Positive Behaviour Support
School-wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) is an evidence-based framework for teaching students the expected behaviours at our College, and providing support and opportunities for them to demonstrate and practise those behaviours.
It aims to create a positive school climate, a culture of student competence and an open, responsive management system for all school community members. It includes analysis of data in professional learning teams, implementation of evidence based practices and organisational systems for establishing safe, purposeful and inclusive school and classroom learning environments while providing the individual behaviour and learning supports needed to achieve academic and social success for all students.
ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï has implemented Positive Behaviour Support measures in consultation with the school wide community, including a comprehensive matrix of Expected Behaviours and lesson plans within the curriculum.
Our expected behaviours apply to all students – in the classroom, outside the classroom and in the wider community.
We believe that implementing, modelling and reinforcing positive social behaviour is an important component of each student’s educational experience. Commendations are awarded regularly to students who demonstrate positive behaviour, outstanding effort and achievement in relation to our College values of Aspire to Achieve, Strengthen our Community and Respect Ourselves and Others.
The School Wide PBS Matrix reminds students to be Safe, Respectful and Responsible.
The matrix is detailed in the student planner and displayed in posters around the school (see below).
A Family SWPBS Handbook is available on this webpage. The handbook provides an overview for students and their families about how the School-wide Positive Behaviour Support framework is implemented at our school. Parents/carers are encouraged to discuss our expected behaviours with their child/ren and contact our office if you have any questions.
